Teaching English
When it comes to teaching English, my favorite areas are composition, the novel, and nonfiction. I believe that it is vastly important for students to become great writers who can create compelling arguments, because these skills will be needed in any future career they have. My personal favorite type of literature is the novel, particularly more contemporary novels; I think it is important for me to teach novels and stories that I love so that my excitement for the writing shows through to my students and gets them engaged with the text as well. I also think it is important for students to be able to read and understand nonfiction text as they will often be faced with this kind of text in their futures. Along these lines, another area of love is journalism, and I like to incorporate journalistic skills whenever possible as this is a medium students already understand.
