At this conference, I planned and lead two sessions: Teacher Tools, where we explored ten different teacher technology tools to help teachers manage and organize their classrooms, and Office Mix, where I led teacher through the creation of an Office Mix interactive PowerPoint and video. I was also a co-presenter during three workshops (which are longer blocks of time). The first of these was Infographics, where we helped teachers create infographics and discussed how they could be used in their classrooms. Another workshop was on making content video more powerful and interactive with tools such as EdPuzzle and Zaption. The last, called Formative Assessment Games, allowed teachers to play and create several different formative assessment games on different platforms. During this conference I also lead a team of teachers; we met at the beginning and/or end of each day. My team was composed of 12 high school educators, and I helped to facilitate conversations among the teachers while helping them choose new sessions to attend and answering any questions they had. The picture at the top of the page depicts two of my team members working together. To read more about this conference, go to itcharleston2016.weebly.com. To the right, you can see a collection of tweets regarding some of the ways I was able to help these educators expand their technology knowledge and skills. |
Facilitator Experiences
(2016)
2016 was the first summer where I was allowed to be a full time facilitator and team leader at the conference. Due to my obligations to Upward Bound, I could only attend one summer conference, and it was a great success!
