Teaching Experiences
Upward BoundI am currently the math instructor for the WVU Upward Bound summer program. In this program, students who plan to be first-generation college students spend 3-6 weeks on campus, attending classes and completing community service. The theme of this year's program is the Olympics.
The first three week unit we are working through is called "Uncovering Correlation" and is all about scatterplots, correlation, lines of best fit, and residuals. At the end, students will choose their own data to research involving the Olympics. The next unit will be focused on real-world functions, especially piecewise functions. Students will be learning what it means to create functions in terms of time, and graph different situations found in the Olympics, such as the height of a diver. See the blog page to see more about what we are learning! |

GTA for Educational Psychology 101When I began graduate school at WVU, I spent one semester as a graduate teaching assistant for EDP 101, Learning Strategies for Academic Success. This course was designed to help students who were struggling with managing their time and developing appropriate study skills. Students learned about expectations at the college level and practiced new skills for note-taking and studying.
