Technology Teaching Assistant
In March of 2014, I applied for a new position within the College of Education and was selected as the Lead Technology Teaching Assistant (TTA). The TTA position was created so that College of Education faculty could be paired with a technology savvy student who would help them learn how best to use iPads, interactive whiteboards, and other technology and websites in their classrooms.
As the lead TTA, I was responsible for creating weekly video tutorials of at least two education apps that college professors could use or showcase in their classes. I also had to write a review of the app and its uses to be published on the university website. I read the journal entries of the four other TTAs to be sure that they were effectively instructing their paired teachers with tools that were relevant to them. Every other week, I held hour-long technology workshops for teachers to learn first hand how to use the apps, and at the end of the semester, I showcased some other apps at the department wide faculty meeting. I also helped keep the set of student iPads up-to-date both with their software and their apps.
For my work as a TTA and at the WVCPD, I was honored with a Recognition Award for Professional Activities at the 2014 Honors Convocation. Video tutorials can be found on my Becoming an iTeacher website, or click here.
