Over the past few years, I have collected several "teaching" books. Some I have read, some I have paged through. For this summer before my first year of teaching, I have decided to have an informal "book study" by myself, writing my reflections and thoughts here on this blog.
Primarily this summer I am interested in learning more about first year teaching skills, especially classroom management. Within this are the ideas of productive groupwork and whole class discussions, both topics that I have been exposed to during my graduate program. In addition, I am interested in learning more about implementing math tasks. I hope to focus on these three major mathematical themes/goals during my summer reading so that I can address them as much as possible starting in the fall!
My list of books to read includes (in no particular order):
